If you want to build your own loft conversion but need a carpenter to build the technical bits, Richard is your man. The structure of a build is called the first fix, this is the roof, walls, stairs and windows. He is happy to quote you for just the parts you need to carry on and create your new loft space. Leaving you to finish the rest in your own time. He also provides day rate carpentry service.

Richard Jackson installs top hung Velux window in Henfield

Their is a choice of top hung or the conventional centre pivot. e.g. hinged in the middle. Top hung windows provide more head height when open in your loft conversion. The top hung Velux window has its handle at the bottom, some people may find this easier to use. The centre pivot window is more economic and has its handle at the top.

Velux roof windows are a great quality choice and they are the market leaders.

A loft conversion takes 8 weeks with Jackson Lofts Brighton

A standard loft conversion can take 8 weeks to build. During the first 6 weeks Richard and his team will access the loft via the scaffolding and keep disruption to your home to a minimum.

A Velux or eves loft conversion in an average 3 bedroom terraced house with a master bedroom and an en-suite bathroom would take between 5 to 6 weeks.

When changes are made to the initial design or specialist windows with a longer order time this can add to this build time.

  1. Contact Richard through his contact form below.
  2. Richard will visit you to look at your loft space to discuss loft conversion requirements. He will give you a ‘ballpark’ estimate and his availability.
  3. Richard can organise draft drawings from his Architect.
  4. When a design is agreed and a final estimate will be sent to you.

My recent loft conversion featured a beautiful four panel Cabrio Velux Window in a master bedroom. Creating an enormous amount of light and space. Cabrio windows are quiet straight forward to fit and can be installed onto most types of roof. This is the loft before I started.
